This is a commercial project and the groundwork was started in June. The final approval to start the job was given in late August and unexpectedly, there were several design changes. Now it was to be steel posts, bearers and joists where timber was in the original thinking. It was now early September and the project had to be completed before Christmas.
Unfortunately, it took some time to arrange the steel for the project and time pressures around the approaching Christmas break meant that a faster solution had to be found and so treated pine, painted joists were used instead. Eventually, work commenced in November and the 150m2 deck aspect of the project was handed back to the client after 6 weeks. The deck was oiled to finish soon after and the next step was to complete the overhead flyover insulated panel roof, the stairs leading onto the deck and the hot dipped galvanised handrails were fitted to complete the project. Along the way, the teachers and children were delightful and gave paintings and gingerbread houses in appreciation. A wonderful time for all involved.
